Internet Dating

I understand that there is a stigma around Internet Dating. When I talk to people on the street, I see the look on their faces when I talk about dating on the internet. However, the younger generation take it as a given, that connections are made and relationships are formed using their cell phones.

That leaves a sadly large amount of our population walking around in a world where people don’t spontaneously talk to each other anymore. Except for forced social events, our daily communication with others is minimal and quite sterile.

Personally, I don’t see it as a negative or slimy activity. Those of us who use the internet and our phones, find it much easier to connect with other singles in this way. It is preferred to frequenting bars, or waiting for five years for your best friend to tell you that he doesn’t see you in that way.

In 1998, I started a website which was the first of its kind, in that it gave positive support to couples that have met on the internet. One of the most powerful contributions was all of the positive real-life stories that couples shared about their internet romance.

Love is something that makes us want to shout from the roof tops, and what a lovely way for a couple to share the story of their love with others who have fallen in love with someone they were introduced to, via the internet.

To this day, I maintain a website for those stories to be sent out into the world.
